Some features of hearing aids require internet access, such as the following:

  • Firmware update
  • Remote consultation
  • In-app hearing screening
  • Synchronization of hearing profile

You are required to access the app during the initial setup of your Orka Two for synchronization of hearing profile based on your audiogram. If you don't have an audiogram, you're advised to take our in-app hearing screening. This ensures your hearing aids are optimally programmed to your hearing level, providing you the best possible hearing experience.

After the initial setup, you may use your hearing aids without using the app. The app is designed to enhance the overall user experience by providing additional controls and customization options, but it is not neccessary to operate the hearing aids.

Other than controlling your Orka Two with the app, you can also use the buttons on the charging case to adjust volume and change between the hearing aid programs.

Having hearing aids that are programmed to your hearing level ensures you the best possible hearing experience. The screening helps determine the quietest sounds you can hear at different frequencies. Thus, you should take the in-app hearing screening if you don't have an audiogram.

The in-app hearing screening is calibrated with Orka Two hearing aids for more accurate results compared to common online hearing screening.

Before the screening, you will be guided and instructed by Orka's interactive animated tutorial. During the screening, make sure you tap on "I hear the beep" whenever you hear the tone presented. Once the screening is complete, the screening results will be shown and can then be used to customize your hearing profile by tapping on "Generate hearing profile".

No, the in-app hearing screening cannot replace a clinical hearing test conducted by a hearing care professional. It can be useful as preliminary, self-administered screening tools to find out your estimated hearing level and the results can be used to program your Orka hearing aids.

Yes. Tinnitus could affect your screening results by making it harder for you to identify the pure tone you hear during the screening process.

If you have any concerns about the results, you're recommended to vist a hearing clinic and consult an audiologist or hearing care professional in your area for comprehensive evaluation.

Yes. Firmware updates will be released from time to time to improve Orka Two's performance, features and stability. By connecting your Orka Two to the app, you can have your hearing aids and charging case up-to-date with the latest firmware version to ensure that you benefit from advancements in technology, enhanced functionalities and potential bug fixes. Simply go to "Menu" - "My Account" - "Firmware Update" to update the firmware version of your hearing aids and charging case.

Online Hearing Screening

If you have never had your hearing tested before, and are wondering if you need hearing aids, Orka online hearing screening can give suggestions, and let you know if Orka hearing aids can help with your current hearing loss. You may use the results to get a customized hearing solution with Orka hearing aids.

*Orka online hearing screening is not to replace a professional clinical hearing test. It is for informational purposes only.

An online hearing screening gives you a preliminary assessment of your current hearing ability. While it is not a replacement for a clinical evaluation conducted by a hearing professional such as an audiologist, it can still provide valuable insights. From an online hearing screening, you can learn:

  • Estimated level of your hearing ability
  • Awareness of your hearing health and care
  • Whether you need to take further actions
  • Whether you're a candidate for Orka hearing aids

*It is important to note that online hearing screening have limitations and cannot replace a professional hearing assessment. Factors like the quality of your headphones or speakers, environmental noise, and the absence of bone conduction testing can affect the accuracy of the screening results. If you suspect you have hearing difficulties or your online screening results indicate a potential issue, it’s crucial to consult an audiologist or hearing care professional for a comprehensive evaluation and personalized recommendations.

To conduct an online hearing screening, you will need the following:

  • A quiet and comfortable environment: Select a quiet room or space where you can take the screening without any background noise or distractions.
  • A reliable internet connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection to access the screening platform and avoid any interruptions during the screening.
  • A computer, tablet, or smartphone: Access the online hearing screening using a computer or mobile device with a web browser.
  • Quality headphones or earphones: Preferably closed and wired earbuds. Avoid using low-quality earphones or built-in speakers, as they may distort the sounds and affect the screening results.
  • Time and focus: Allow sufficient time to complete the screening. It usually takes around 10-20 minutes. Ensure you can focus on the screening without any interruptions.

No, none of the online hearing screening can replace a professional hearing assessment in the current marketplace. Our online hearing screening is developed by a team of leading sound engineers and audiologists. It can provide insights into your hearing ability and let you know if Orka can help with your hearing loss.

There is no need to take the online hearing screening again if you have a copy of your clinical-based audiogram within one year. We suggest that you take a clinical hearing test every year. If you haven't done so, you can also take our online screening to see if your hearing loss has changed.

Yes. Tinnitus can affect your screening results by making it harder for you to identify the sounds you hear during the screening process.

Hearing aids are not intended to treat tinnitus. Hearing loss and tinnitus often occur simultaneously. Hearing aids amplify external sounds, making it easier for individuals with hearing loss to hear better. Improved hearing abilities can shift focus away from the tinnitus, resulting in the perception of reduced tinnitus sounds as the brain pays more attention to the external sounds.

Remote Care

Getting hearing aids is not a once-and-for-all solution. Complementary services are equally important to make sure your hearing aids are perfectly tailored to your own lifestyle and preferences. That's where Orka Remote Care comes into play, serving you every step of the way from virtual unboxing, hearing health consultations to remote adjustments and technical support, all of which can be done digitally with no office visits required.

When you purchased Orka hearing aids you may have been scheduled for, or offered a link to schedule a Welcome Call appointment. We understand that the use of new hearing aids can be challenging in the beginning. The Welcome Call connects you with your assigned Hearing Care Professional and you'll have the opportunity to ask them any questions or for specific advice you may need. Your hearing care professional will remain available as you begin your hearing journey and assist you every step along the way.

Orka's hearing care professionals will talk with you to ensure you're doing well with Orka hearing aids. Our experienced, knowledgeable and friendly hearing care professionals are ready to answer your questions. During the call, if needed, they could guide you through the initial setup of your hearing aids and Orka Health App.

If you've already completed the initial setup before the Welcome Call and have uploaded your audiogram, it's essential to sync your hearing profile so that your hearing aids are programmed to your hearing levels. If you don't have an audiogram, you can take our in-app hearing screening to customize your hearing aids.

Please note that the new sound experiences of using your very first hearing profile created based on your audiogram or the results from in-app hearing screening may not be as good as you expect. If you have such experience, it's important to let our hearing care professionals know during the call. They can make sound adjustments to ensure optimal and comfortable sound quality tailored to your specific hearing needs.

During your first remote consultation, you have a video meeting with Orka's Hearing Care Professionals, where they show you all the necessary steps to quickly get started with the hearing aids, including:

  • How to wear Orka hearing aids?
  • How to choose the right domes?
  • How to connect to Bluetooth® on smart devices?
  • How to use Orka App?
  • How to do daily maintenance?
  • Suggestions about hearing aids usage.

FYI: The session is completely flexible and our Hearing Care Professional is there to answer whatever questions you may have.

The first fit of your hearing aids is just the beginning. There is an adaption stage that each user will have to go through when they start wearing the devices. While some may get used to them very quickly, it takes longer for others. And the follow-up consultations are there to get your hearing aids checked by a Hearing Care Provider so that they can make adjustments to the devices and make sure the adaptation goes smoothly for you.

Remote Care Services are totally free of charge for all Orka users. And you can always access our remote care services by booking a session via the ORKA Health App or email.
